Journey of Discovery: A Hike Through Saureni, Samtse

 

 

The hike in  Saureni(local name), Samtse, which brought my mentor and mentee together in the picturesque surroundings of nature, was highly anticipated. We walked on a track that took us across glistening streams, green and lush mountains, and led us to breathtaking viewpoints. Our journey was accompanied by the peaceful sound of chirping birds and playful monkeys. I was overwhelmed by this session as we were more relaxed and open with each other unlike other times. The hike provided us an opportunity for self-reflection and growth. we had a deep discussion about our objectives, aspirations, and challenges. These conversations created a secure and casual environment for us to express ourselves, fostering a sense of trust and relaxation. It was a platform to learn beyond our mentorship objectives. We learned about the plants and creatures that inhibited this region as well as Samtse's biodiversity. In addition, we also got a chance to meet with the villagers and visited one of the temples of that region.

This evet has laid a foundation for our future mentorship activities. We plan to include more outdoor experiences in our mentor and mentee sessions. We also plan to have frequent camping, hikes and other outdoor activities to promote personal and professional growth. Furthermore, we intend to organize clean-up drives and environmental awareness campaigns, through which we can encourage our mentees to become stewards of the environment and instill a sense of responsibility. Thus, it was fun and a memorable day.
