Book Review

Image
I read a book titled Make Your Bed by Admiral Mcraven's, based on the commencement speech he gave at the university of Texas. He is a retired U.S. navy and a Chancellor of the University of Texas System. This book talks about the importance of small things that brings a lot of positive changes in one's life. In this book, the authors share about his experiences and things he learned during his Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training, but also throughout his life. As I read this book, I came to know that even the slightest thing such as making our bed every morning can become a habit and make a person responsible. I follow this lesson everyday not only making my bed but also, I try to read at least a page every morning. Eventually, it encourages me to do other challengin...

My Module Tutors

I am pursuing BEd ENG/GEO in Samtse College of Education as a first-year student. We have five modules which includes Academic skills (ACS), Psychology (PSY), Dzongkha (Dzo), Education for Development (EFD), and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Now, let me write about how I felt about this module tutors. Firstly, my ACS module tutor was very active starting from day one. Just hearing her speak would make me feel active and energized. She gives her best while teaching and to be honest she teaches the best among all. But I don't know why I felt so insecure and felt like she didn't like me. I always feared her, but nothing happened she was nice till the end. Talking about PSY module tutor she is the calmest person I have ever met in my life. She has that patience and understanding which makes me admire her a lot. Despite this, her class was really boring as I would always fall asleep and on top, her voice tone is really soft. Moving on to EFD module tutor, he was re...

My Experience of doing Academic Skills (ACS) Oral Presentation

Finally, I am done with The ACS oral presentation which was really nerve-wrecking and stressing. Our group was the last one to do the presentation on the topic LGBTQ+ community. I practiced it for almost 10 times with my group members and as well as with my friends at hostel. I tried to make myself perfect while presenting, but due to a large number of crowds I got so nervous and even forgot some of my lines. In addition, due to my fear of our ACS module tutor, it was a challenging to speak in front of her. I was afraid of what she would comment about our presentation, even her look was so serious which made me to worry even more. However, we did our best and our tutor also didn't give any harsh comments rather she commented as general applying to everyone. It was exciting and fun while working together with different members. I also got the chance to get closer with them rather than just working for presentation. Also, through this presentation my confidence level has gone little...

Celebrating the Eve of Blessed Rainy Day

Image
Eve of Blessed Rainy Day Blessed rainy day is celebrated every year and is considered to be a significant event to the Bhutanese. This year we celebrated blessed rainy day popularly known as thruebab in Bhutanese language in Samtse College of Education (SCE). We were joined by some of the foreign colleagues, faculties and students of SCE. It was such a memorable day filled with smile and butterflies. Variety of dances were performed especially to showcase our rich and diverse culture and traditions. The event was even more intriguing when the foreign members shared about their home and culture. In addition, they also sang a song which was really enlightening and pleasing to hear. The program ended with vote of thanks by one of the students of SCE.

Journey of Discovery: A Hike Through Saureni, Samtse

Image
The hike in  Saureni(local name), Samtse, which brought my mentor and mentee together in the picturesque surroundings of nature, was highly anticipated. We walked on a track that took us across glistening streams, green and lush mountains, and led us to breathtaking viewpoints. Our journey was accompanied by the peaceful sound of chirping birds and playful monkeys. I was overwhelmed by this session as we were more relaxed and open with each other unlike other times. The hike provided us an opportunity for self-reflection and growth. we had a deep discussion about our objectives, aspirations, and challenges. These conversations created a secure and casual environment for us to express ourselves, fostering a sense of trust and relaxation. It was a platform to learn beyond our mentorship objectives. We learned about the plants and creatures that inhibited this region as well as Samtse's biodiversity. In addition, we also got a chan...
